We scored more runs off Leahy than Dallas did. Yes I plan on posting this on every board.

1. Congrats to Dallas

2. Thanks to the BLWB staff for running a great tourney.

3. Animal was an absolute defensive FORCE this weekend. Amazing how someone so debilitated can manage to lumber (and I do mean LUMBER) their body into a position to make plays like he does. Of course...I didn't sign him to my Golden Stick team for his defense...but I'm starting to like what he has to offer here.

4. Correction on the comment by Dallas about the Diamonds never having beat Doom before last weekend. I think Trotta must have not been counting the game where the Diamonds with the Mad Whacker, came back in stunning fashion at Wiffle Up a couple of years ago to take the victory. Given he probably just blamed it on McHugh because he was teamed with the Gunners to make "Absolute Doom". Its all semantics though...I count that one as a victory over Doom. For us little people, thats all we can get sometimes!

Thanks for the mention, Dallas. The major discussion on the way home was that we have lost to Doom in like 3 or 4 semis and a final, where if we pulled the trick would have been in the $$. The blind squirrel finally gets the nut and the reward is a quarterfinal smack-down from the one-man wrecking crew. Timing is everything in life.
Good idea with the video. I will be posting at least 1-2 new blog topics every week, including tournament breakdowns and other pieces of interest, and I am sure Trotta will have some good stuff as well, so hopefully everyone checks it out at least a couple of times a week. Incredible to see you post. Coming out of your shell? I know it is hard to have high self-esteem when you are always the last picked, struggling to hold your own against guys that are bigger, stronger and more athletic than you. Fantastic stuff.

And yes, Dallas won Bedford. After he downed the Diamonds, it was pretty much a fait accompli.

Ego- Since you have beaten us twice already this year, what answer to the wiffle-up question will cause you not to show up?

The tournament is one day. It runs similarly to a BLWB format-wise, but typically only teams with 2 divisional wins make the playoffs.

I will have to talk to Nick about video. I think videos of Andy Grady running and Animal playing the infield could be youtube sensations.

Another great tourny run by the BLWB staff which is quickly becoming the tournament of choice for many. Also a congrats to the Diamonds who defeated my fellow Doom teammates for the first time ever. I guess Trotta can take u off of the "Best teams to never beat Doom list"...sadly he does keep a list. Anyway like the blog more people need to start posting. Lastly I think that we should have a video camera taking footage of the games that way you can post a "tourney highlight on the website after each week. Goldenstickwiffle.com does a great job with it, ok this post is too long for me

Hey Trotta. A wise man once told me:
“A man learns nothing from winning. The act of losing however can illict great wisdom, not least of which is how much more enjoyable it is to win. It is inevitable to lose, the trick is, not making a habit of it.”

Keep your head up, my man.

Leahy- I am in a difficult spot here because I am going to be writing for BLWB, but I also tend to agree with you. I like the metal bats because they tend to produce games where every aspect of a team is tested. A team must produce runs to win because shutouts are rare. A team must play good defense bacuse many more balls are put into play. A team must pitch very well and very smart to navigate a good lineup with a metal bat. To me, it is a much better test of the completeness of a team, as opposed to a newa format where a hot pitcher can sometimes almost single-handedly win a tournament.

HOWEVER, I will say this. The guys at BLWB have been busting their asses behind the scenes to really grow the sport, and you are going to see some really cool things over the coming years. It is my belief that this format change is more a result of some of these projects that they are planning than it is a result of dissatisfaction with the current format. I think over the next year as the announce some of the really big things that are in the works, it will become more clear.

I am certainly willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, knowing how insanely dedicated they are to making this game bigger and how much work they have already done. And besides, I often say in response to the yellow-bat purists that a good team should be able to win with any type of bat, so I now I get a chance to put my money where my mouth is.

That last blog entry is why “The Animal” is allowed to post along side “The Franchise." His humor mirrors his game. Down right hilarious.
